ISP is open to all UF degree seeking undergraduate students and can be customized to fit individual academic and career goals. Students who complete the ISP requirements will graduate with a global medallion and program certificate and are more competitive for career opportunities after graduation.

ISP is always accepting applications. Once you have enrolled, you will be added to the ISP Canvas course where you will have access to all the resources you need to be a successful international scholar.

Requirements

Students must complete the following requirements before graduation to earn the ISP distinction:

Coursework Requirements

The ISP Program requires the completion of 9 credit hours of international course work (or 3 courses).

UF offers a wide variety of courses that meet this requirement. International Scholars are encouraged to take these courses as part of their major, minor, electives, or to meet Gen Ed or Quest requirements. These courses may be taken on campus, online, or while studying abroad.

ISP courses can come from any combination of the following:

  • International Gen Ed or Quest courses.
  • Courses completed during a study abroad or international exchange.
  • Language courses at the 3000 level and above.
  • Other undergraduate courses with a global or cultural perspective.

To qualify, at least 30% of the course content must address issues outside of the United States or 30% of the course grade must be based on a project that is international in scope.

For questions about specific courses, contact ISP coordinator.

International Experience

International Scholars are required to complete an international experience, either study abroad OR two semesters of foreign language learning coursework.

Students may do both, but only one is required. This first-hand experience with international perspectives helps students grow both personally and professionally. Use the links below to plan your experience.

Global Campus Engagement

To get involved with the international community on campus, International Scholars must attend at least four international and/or intercultural-focused events.

For ideas on where to find additional international or global events outside the International Center, check out the links below! While this is not an exhaustive list of international events and ways to get involved at UF, it is a good starting point for your Global Campus Engagement!

ePortfolio

The capstone project for the International Scholars Program is creating an ePortfolio or personal website to display and reflect on international engagement and experiences at UF. This project helps students organize their thoughts about their academic and professional goals. This is a valuable resource that helps students stand out and is certain to impress potential employers! Once students are enrolled, they will have access to workshops, tutorials, and advising to help develop their ePortfolios.
