Research Abroad for Master’s Students

The RAMS program provides funding for travel and travel related expenses for master’s students to travel abroad to collect data or to access resources not available on campus at partner institutions. Stays abroad can range from two to six weeks. The program is not meant to fully support field research but rather to supplement ongoing master’s research with resources available abroad. This opportunity is intended to enable master’s students to expand their network of potential collaborators while also helping to build bridges between UF and international partners.

Eligibility

  • UF master’s students who have completed their first year of study or have approval from their advisor. Students may be from the Humanities, Social Sciences, or STEM and also include programs run by the Title VI Centers.
  • Preference will be given to terminal master’s programs, but all applicants will be considered.

Program Requirements

Students should commit to spending two to six weeks continuously in residence at the foreign site. Students must be actively engaged in research or learning that directly contributes their master’s programs. Students completing the program must complete a comprehensive trip report that details their activity, research goals, the collaborative experience and how the research contributes to the development of scholarly output.

Amount of Award

  • The award amount is up to $5000.  A budget detailing expenses must be submitted.

  2. Current curriculum vitae (CV)
  3. Project Budget: when completing the budget in the application form, please do not use the listed US State Department rates, which would significantly inflate the budget. We suggest that 62% of the lodging rate is a reasonable estimate and that per diem rates also be justified accordingly.
  4. Please include a description of how you will be using the funds.
  5. A letter of support from the Graduate Advisor.
  6. A letter of support from the host institution, which should be an internationally recognized site (If multiple sites, submit a letter from each institution).
