What are Africa’s intellectual histories? What forms of knowledge have been produced about political, social, and cultural institutions in Africa? And how have scholars questioned the effects of colonialism on knowledge production about Africa?
Join us for a two-day conference exploring African intellectual traditions and the dynamics of knowledge production in the past and present.
Scholars of history, archaeology, literature, anthropology, and human geography will confront the parameters of biography and the nation-state to consider more capacious understandings of intellectuals, their ideas, and their communities.
