Dr. Karen Reed, RN, CNE, CNL, CRRN, University of Florida College of Nursing, has been accepted for placement on the US Fulbright Specialist Roster for a tenure of four years. During that 4-year period, she can participate in up to two projects of 2-6 weeks in length. There are 150 countries that participate in the program. The US Fulbright Specialist Program brings together the expertise of a US Scholar or professional to an international institution requesting assistance for a specific academic project. Typically, Specialists serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and graduate student mentoring. This is Dr. Reed's second US Fulbright Award as she was a US Fulbright Scholar to Cambodia in 2013-2014.
Azza Kamal, PhD, LEED AP ND, an Instructional Assistant Professor in Sustainability and the Built Environment Program in the College of Design, construction, and Planning, has been named to the Fulbright Specialist Roster for four-years tenure (2022-2026). Dr. Kamal, who specializes in housing policy, and sustainable and equity planning, is interested in exploring collaborative activities in the area of real estate practices and research that account for Environmental, Governance, and Economics (ESG) Framework.
The Fulbright Specialist Program was established in 2001 by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). It pairs highly qualified U.S. academics and professionals with host institutions across the globe for two- to six-week, project-based exchanges. Fulbright Specialists share their expertise, strengthen institutional linkages, hone their skills, gain international experience, and learn about other cultures while building capacity at their overseas host institutions.
