The University of Florida and the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa (UAMI) signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU).
The agreement is good for five years and is with the College of Medicine, Department of Radiology. The interaction between the University of Florida Division of Radiological Physics (UF DRP) and the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa (UAMI) began in December 2019 when Dr. Manuel Arreola was invited to participate in the 1st Symposium on Clinical Medical Physics held at UAMI in Mexico City. This was further strengthened as the two institutions had two virtual Medical Physics Review courses; one in May 2020 and the second in conjunction with the 2nd Symposium in November 2020. These collaborations sparked the idea of a more vital, more structured collaboration that may eventually lead to Faculty visits and student exchange with possibilities for joint research projects.
With the agreement, the institutions plan to facilitate faculty visits to initiate collaborative research projects and student exchange to enhance training and initial clinical experience for students from both institutions.
