José Valentino Ruiz, Assistant Professor of Music Business and Entrepreneurship in the School of Music, College of the Arts, and students have been awarded the Silver Medal Outstanding Achievement Award in the Vocal Jazz Album category for the album, "A Carpenter from Chicago". Team members of the UFIC attended the Career Connection Center annual Faculty & Staff Career Symposium on July 7-8, 2022. This year’s theme was Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s Workforce. Dr. Kristen Stoner, invited guest artist at the XXXVII Festival Internacional de Flautistas, was the only musician from the United States to be featured. During the week-long Festival, she performed a duo concerto with orchestra, three quintets, a solo recital, and two works for flute orchestra. She also presented a masterclass for South American flute students attending the Festival and adjudicated an international flute competition. On her solo recital, she performed the world premiere of a new composition by Peruvian composer César Vivanco Sánchez, Capriccio Criollo sobre el tema "La Flor de la Canela" de Isabel Granda.
