Dr. Matthew Jacobs, Associate Professor in the UF Department of History, and Director of Undergraduate Academic Programs at the International Center served as keynote speaker at the University of Florida Model United Nations anuual conference, GatorMUN. This conference provided a learning experience breaking from the traditional classroom setting and transforming high school students into experts on pressing international issues. During the weekend, students became delegates in important international forums addressing complex global issues such as preventing the spread of diseases, defending human rights, and upholding justice in the international system. A Korean hanging scroll from the Harn Museum of Art’s collection has been loaned to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Korea. The scroll, titled Folk Dancers Dressed as Buddhist Nuns, by Kim Eunho (Korean, 1892-1979) will be on view in the exhibition “The Arrival of New Women”which opens December 21st, 2017.
