Dr. Muthusami Kumaran, Associate Professor of Nonprofit Management, Department of Family, Youth & Community Sciences, CALS, has been travelling across South Korea since March 11 for his grant project ‘Strengthening organizational management capacities of NGOs in South Korea’ funded by the U.S. Embassy - Seoul. He has already completed his two-day intensive training workshops for 25 selected NGO leaders in the cities of Jeju, Busan and Daegu. He will continue with the workshops in Gwangju and Suwon in the upcoming days and return home on April 2. UFIC's International Student Services office provided training regarding F-1 student visa regulations for UF Faculty and Staff.

Attendees gained practical knowledge of immigration requirements and terminology related to assisting international students in attaining and maintaining legal status in the U.S. They also developed working knowledge of the assistance and guidance available through the UF International Center, such as I-20 requests for newly admitted international students who will attend UF in F-1 visa status, maintaining F-1 status, registration requirements, and employment eligibility and restrictions.

In collaboration with the UF Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies and Makerere University, the International Center hosted "Together for Women's Empowerment" with Dr. Brenda Boonabaana. Dr. Boonabaana is faculty in the Department of Forestry, Biodiversity and Tourism at Makerere University, Uganda. She is a Feminist Geographer and an advocate of women and girls' empowerment, food secure communities, as well as healthy, sustainable, and resilient environment.

Eoghan O’Regan, Deputy Head of North America from the Welsh Government came to UF on Monday to meet with students attending the UF in Wales – Writing in International Studies, Law, & Relations study abroad program.
