Team members of the UFIC attended the Career Connection Center annual Faculty & Staff Career Symposium on July 7-8, 2022. This year’s theme was Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s Workforce. The event centered around emerging trends that impact students’ workforce readiness and the role faculty and staff play in preparing UF students for the future of work. UFIC staff members hosted a table presenting its services and answering employers' questions about F-1 students' employment eligibility.

Dr. Sanford Berg Presents during Brazil Water Week

Professor Emeritus Sanford Berg discussed “The Role of Regulatory Agencies to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals to industry and government officials in Brazil. His report focused on the implications of the OECD Report for Key Performance Indicators in the Water and Sanitation Sector, especially data collection, analysis, targets, communication, and incentives.

Kristen Stoner, UF Flute Professor, performs world premiere at XXXVII Festival Internacional de Flautistas in Lima, Peru

Dr. Kristen Stoner, invited guest artist at the XXXVII Festival Internacional de Flautistas, was the only musician from the United States to be featured. During the week-long Festival, she performed a duo concerto with orchestra, three quintets, a solo recital, and two works for flute orchestra. She also presented a masterclass for South American flute students attending the Festival and adjudicated an international flute competition. On her solo recital, she performed the world premiere of a new composition by Peruvian composer César Vivanco Sánchez, Capriccio Criollo sobre el tema "La Flor de la Canela" de Isabel Granda.

UFIC staff was treated with a sweet and deliziosa surprise to show appreciation for the hard work and passion they show every day to promote international education and engagement on campus. Everyone enjoyed Italian ice and ice cream from B'z Gelati, an independently owned and operated local food truck. Many thanks to Sara Williams (UFIC HR) for organizing!

Professor Emeritus Sanford Berg from the Economics Department in the Warrington College of Business served as an external reviewer of this report, interviewing stakeholders affected by the new water regulatory system implemented in Brazil in 2020. The review was provided in four presentations and included analyses of stakeholders' views of the new system, its implementation, and its potential impacts.

During his visit, UF Research hosted a campus conversation with the director to discuss NSF's priorities and opportunities for researchers. While the Asian Faculty and Staff Association, or AFSA, is not new to the University of Florida, engagement within the association has waned over the years. By the time the pandemic started in 2020, the AFSA was no longer active. The pandemic, however, reminded former members why an association like the AFSA is important for the UF community.

UF and UAMI Sign New Memorandum of Understanding

The University of Florida and the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa (UAMI) signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU). 

The agreement is good for five years and is with the College of Medicine, Department of Radiology.
